Mr. Gardner, do what you've been doing: Write when you have something to say that fits a substack and doesn't need a book. Or when you're so pissed off that your family worries for your wellbeing...and the family glassware. For that, I'd judge that you've shown remarkably stable self-control. With remarkably little of the profanity that is now de rigueur in "modern" journalism.
To quote the much-missed Douglas Adams, "Thanks for all the fish." Maybe give your subscribers an opportunity to have an autographed copy of the first print run?
I love your substack. And have sent on many friends interested in history to it. You have been kind enough to say you appreciate my sending on many friends, rather than a paid subscription. For example, your riff on Victoria Day was masterful and I know my many friends interested in history will find it deeply interesting. You are simply one of the best substackers going. I quite understand your need for quiet time. As we all really do. Kindest regards, Dan Gardner.
I'm pleased to read whatever you choose to write. Best wishes with your book!

How many ping pong balls fit in a tank?
Good luck with your writing. And enjoy!
Good luck on your book writing! 👍🏻🙏🏻
Hope the fish are biting! Best wishes on finishing your manuscript.
Good luck, Dan!
Looking forward to the results. Good luck, writing and fishing!
Having written two myself I applaud your discipline and focus. It’s the only way to wrestle a monster.

"On my door, I'd hang a sign
Gone fishin' instead of just a-wishin"
From Bing and Louis' playful tune.
Have fun but watch out for the black flies - 'tis the season.
Ciao
Thanks as always Dan, and best of luck on the book. I can't wait to read it!
Thank you for your service (crushing technological determinism)!
