I think it would be very helpful if our leaders were talking more along these lines explicitly, and to try to have more of a public conversation about the values that underly decisions about public health measures. (For example here in Québec there was little effort to explain and justify the decision to impose such extreme measures as the curfew in place early this winter, nor the decision to quickly roll back measures like vaccine requirements and capacity limits later this winter — what are we trying to accomplish and how do the decisions about measures in place get us there? It’s an obvious question being oddly ignored in public)

This is important! I don't know how many times I've heard complacent people say that viruses evolve to become more benign because they "don't want to kill their hosts", but they forget that the mechanism through which natural selection imposes that rule is the host dying along with the virus.
If Covid is not over (I concur) and will remain with us much like influenza, is anyone developing a traditional vaccine instead of all these genome-altering mRNA type treatments? If not, why not?

Immunity from actually encountering the virus provides a broader immunity than getting the shot.
So tho this prophylaxis (I refuse to call this a vaccine) is not "genome-altering", it has altered a LOT of other functions, and it was rushed and mandated onto the public with false and poor data.
We should have fought this on principles, rather than on fear-mongering stories. The fear-mongering was on both sides, and made the resistance look ridiculous, so we lost.
